In response to a significant student and industry need, this course provides an innovative and relevant training programme for people who want to discover how to use 2d (paper pattern drafting) and 3d (draping) techniques together as a contemporary, experimental tool to design and create garments. The emphasis is placed on exploratory and versatile approaches to pattern drafting and garment construction through practical work. By twisting, folding, gathering and layering fabric you will learn how to visualise your ideas quickly exploring shapes, silhouettes and construction details that inform your design. The course focuses on innovative cutting, and the development of structured and unstructured clothing. You will learn 3D realisation, fit alteration, pattern drafting and adaptation and construction. This immersive practical course is tailored for both beginners and experienced individuals who want to expand their knowledge on contemporary pattern drafting.
