Applicants of mature years are considered on their merits.
Applications
Application forms are available from the main office and from the college web site. Applications for all full-time courses may be made directly to the college at any time during the year.

Interviews
Once a student has applied for a place in the college, he/she will be notified regarding an interview time and date. Interviews are in April, late June and again in early September.
English Language Proficiency Test
Applicants whose first language is not English will be required to undertake a proficiency test prior to being offered a place on a course. Dates for this test will be notified to applicants on application.
Registration
When an applicant is offered a place on a course he/she is informed of a registration time. Student Service Charges are payable on registration in addition to an examination fee. Charges vary for each individual course.

Payment of Examination & Student Service Charges
A deposit of €250 must be paid on Registration, and the balance of charges must be paid before commencing the course. The college does not charge VTOS students or those on the New Directions Programme, as their payments are made by support agencies.
Course Fees
The European Social Fund and the National Development Plan support courses. EU Citizens are not charged tuition fees other than the student service charges as outlined above.
Non-EU Students
Non-EU citizens may be liable to pay tuition fees.
Refunds
•Where a student subsequently does not take up their place on a course they may apply for a Refund. Refunds will not be paid after October 31st in any year.
•In the case of all Refunds, €50 will be retained by the College to cover Administration Costs incurred.
•Should there be a difficulty with any of the above, staff in the Main College Office will be happy to help in any way possible.
Orientation & Welcome Programme
The College's orientation programme gives all new students the opportunity to get to know more about the College and the various supports available before starting fully into the academic year. This induction programme takes place immediately prior to the commencement of the course.
Garda Vetting
City of Cork VEC is committed to practices which safeguard the welfare of students, young people and vulnerable adults. City of Cork VEC is registered with the Garda Central Vetting Unit and will be conducting Garda Vetting on students attending courses where it is indentified that possible interaction with children and vulnerable adults is a feature of the course. Any information disclosed by the Garda Central Vetting Unit may be shared with the appropriate decision making personnel in prospective work experience organisations.
Awards
Each year the College recognises the achievement of students by presenting awards at our Graduation Ceremony. The awards signify the academic achievement of the individual and commitment to college life in general and to involvement in Clubs and Societies, College Events, etc.
