This course equips you with skills in technical writing specific to the ICT sector. This may involve the production of installation guides, user guides, troubleshooting manuals, technical descriptions of software and online help menus that are provided in most software applications.
Areas of study will involve industry standard requirements for technical writing including XML, DITA and writing bidirectional technical content in a document processor as well as web development. Participants will also gain skills in creating multimedia and desktop publishing products as technical writing end products. Participants will acquire computing skills and competencies that will enable them to pursue positions in ICT technical writing as well as opportunities for progression to further studies.
Leaving Certificate (LC Established, LCVP or LCA) or equivalent
For mature applicants appropriate experience will be considered in lieu of formal qualifications.

Participants will be required to undertake 10 days of work placement in a relevant location. The College will assist participants in identifying suitable placements.
